Ang Pows Under My Pillow

Reached Singapore in the late afternoon of 30th, and went straight to an auntie's house to bai nian. Missed out on the 'main event' on the 1st day of CNY, too bad.

Reached home about 8 plus and lazed around a bit, and dropped on my bed. Felt something under my pillow and guess what? It's the angpows relatives gave me when I wasn't around to receive them personally. As usual, they just left it with my parents or bro. A nice surprise to have-- My bro actually remembered our little habit since young to keep angpows in the pillow covers until the end of the whole CNY period before opening and banking the money.

Hope to see more relatives these few days. After all, this is the time of the year when everyone close to your heart or 'blood' actually makes the effort to meet one another.

Gong Xi Fa Cai!

There was basically a mad rush to get things done today:
- Go to Bugis Guan Yin temple to pray and ask for a lot (which turned out to be a very good one)
- To Kino to find a book that unfortunately, is not available. (Will place an order for that after the CNY excitement)
- Buy hair mousse to help keep my newly cut hair in place, and in a bun. (Sometimes hairstylists and bakers are so alike-- they like layers a lot.)
- Tidy up my room for CNY. (Still in progress)
- Withdraw money to change currency and prepare ang-pow for my parents.
- Cut nails, paint nails.
- Practising my standard/fake/robotic/no-sincerity/just-doing-it-for-the-job/I'm-doing-it-so-much-it-has-no-meaning smile
- Mentally prepare myself for whatever that the job or my seniors may throw at me (literally) for this flight.

Ok, I'm being sarcastic. Forgive me for that.

For this new year, all I wish for is rather simple--
For my family: Good Health
For my friends: Good results
For myself: Good health and the will and determination to remain true to myself. Also, to spend less when I'm in NYC.

A New Year, A New Blog

To some of you, this blog is an entirely new one; for some, it's still the same thing. Let me explain: I've had a blog of the exact same layout and background previously, but had little choice but to create this new one because some people in my company somehow came across my blog and started reading it.

One main purpose of my blog is for me to vent my anger on daily displeasures that may result from my job or other stuff. One last thing I want is for those I'm working together with to read my personal emotions and grumbles.

Therefore, I've decided to open a new blog, and continue on with my complaining and 'word-vomit'.

Chinese New Year is coming up, and my new blog is up in time for that. Yeah... But too bad I won't be around in Singapore this year to celebrate. I'll be in New York and Tokyo during the CNY Eve and 1st Day period. Will only reach home on the 2nd day of CNY.

Things I'll be missing:
- The reunion dinner
- The annual countdown show on Channel 8
- The waiting of ang-pow giving by my parents
- Going to the Bugis Guan Yin temple to pray on the 1st Day
- Visiting my grandparents and seeing A LOT of my relatives and cousins there
- Having dinner with some family friends at my house
